Spoiled Rotten!

Well Christmas has come and gone again. I was spoiled completely rotten. It all started when My niece was born on Dec. 8 and was named Karah Danielle. I was extremely honored that she was named after me. Isn't she beautiful!

Then my Ryan decided he was going to spend his years wages on me for Christmas. Here we are about to open our gifts to one another.
I was super excited to give Ry his because I had worked on it for four months. I secretly got all his high school rodeo photos and scrap booked them. He was really excited, I almost started crying when we opened them. I gave him some new clothes also.
Then it was my turn. I knew Ryan had been really excited about what he was giving me, but I hadn't a clue what it was. So....

When I opened it and found a brand new roping saddle I was shocked. It is absolutely beautiful. It is all hand tooled and it is seriously breathtaking. As you can see I was petting it because it's so pretty.
And then to top it all off, we went over to the Butler's for breakfast. Ryan casually asked me if I wanted to go downstairs and watch everyone open presents. So we walked into his family room and he smiled at me and pointed and said Merry Christmas.

It's a queen sized pine log bed and it is absolutely gorgeous. I'm one lucky girl. Oh and by the way, I am recovering from my surgery well. Hopefully I will return to work next week.

First for Everything

I had surgery yesterday. I had my gall bladder removed and they said i had a small pocket of bile under my liver. Dr. Mo wasn't quite sure where that came from, but he wasn't concerned. I'm hanging in there. I'll be back to normal in no time.

It's Christmas Time!!!!!

Well it's that time of year again. My favorite time of year, when the nights are cold and the fire is warm. When everyone spends more time at home. I love to keep the house dark and enjoy the magical glow of the Christmas tree. I always feel so grateful and close to Heavenly Father. When excitement is in the air, and when family traditions are at their best. My absolute most favorite tradition is on Christmas Eve. Mandy and Lacy come home and we have a big fancy dinner ( thanks to the gourmet chefs I have as parents). Then we exchange presents between siblings. We do it on Christmas Eve because we are all home at the same time. Then we open our brand new PJ's which my mom tries to pretend she didn't buy! For anyone who doesn't know my parents, you are really missing something special. Anyway, we all change into our new comfy pajamas and hang out until it's time for saint nick to come. Then the best part. We all grab our pillows and blankets and hunker down in the same room. We have done it every Christmas that I can remember. Everyone used to sleep in mine and Cassie's room but the past few years we have slept in my parents room. The last year Lacy lived at home she didn't feel good and wanted to sleep in her own room. I bawled (mind you I was 17 years old). I was so sad, I couldn't imagine not all sleeping together. So being the good sport that she is she slept with us, even though she didn't want to. Love ya Lace :) Bet your glad you did it. Anyway the festivities have started. My work party was on Wednesday. It was a lot more fun than I had imagined. Here are some pictures of our night.Getting ready to leave :) Carly and Glenda playing nurses (big stretch)

Playing Catch Up

Life is great right now. Ryan is finally back to work for five hours a day. He still get tired pretty quickly, but he is doing wonderful. I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I'm very thankful for the love Ryan and I share and I'm even more thankful that he is ALIVE. A lot has happened in the last little while. But the most exciting was the arrival of 7 lb 6 oz Karah Danielle Taylor on Dec. 8,. I don't have any picture, but she is beautiful. She has a little bit of dark hair, and she looks a lot like Shy. I had the privilege of staying with Annie Jo and Shylee while Lacy was in the hospital. I had a blast playing mommy, and I can't wait until it's my turn. I am planning to do the twelve days of Christmas to a few families so if you have any ideas let me know. Thanks. Here are a few pictures of Ry in the hospital and of our Thanksgiving.

True Colors of Friendship

Ryan is doing really well. He is mostly over his headaches and nausea, but now he has some other stinkin' virus. He has lost his voice, but I think he is feeling better everyday. I've learned a lot through this experience. First, I love Ryan more than I ever thought a person could love another. He is my best friend and I know we could make it through anything together. I've always known that me and Ry had something special, but when you go through something like this it makes your bond even stronger. The second thing I learned is that in situations like these true colors really show, and some of those colors are rather ugly. I've always been one of those girls who has a few really good friends and then a bunch of just casual friends. I always thought my really good friends would be a strong support to me in rough times, but I was wrong. I was really surprised at how many of my friends didn't call and then I was again shocked at the ones who did. The same with Ryan. We were both surprised at the people who were there to support us. It was friends that we hadn't talked to in a long time. The third thing I learned is that family is really the only thing you can count on. Thank you to all of my family who was there to support me, and all of you who weren't afraid to ask how we were doing.

Ryan Update

Well we have been home from the hospital for just over two weeks. It is nice to be home and Ryan is continuing to improve. He has gotten a lot of strength back, but he's got a ways to go before he is back to normal. He has helped feed the animals a couple of times and we might try getting on a horse today. We are just taking this one step at a time. He is really battling with extreme headaches right now. We are still unsure about when he will be ready to return to work, but I'm sure that day will come soon enough.

I'm a Esme! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Female Are You? Take the quiz and find out!

I was addicted to the twilight series for about a month. I was somewhat disappointed. I think the quality of her writing went down hill with each book. But I can't wait to see the movie!!

Home sweet Home!

After eleven awful days in the hospital, Ryan finally got to come home. He is able to eat on his own and keep most of his food down. Everything we have read and heard says that he will probably have to battle the nausea for a month or so. We are ok with that. I think Ry just feels a lot better being at home in his own environment. Hopefully he will get good nights sleep and continue on the road to recovery. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concern. Hopefully all this snow will kill off all those pesky mosquitoes so we can have a few months to recover before we have to worry about getting infected again.

Moving Forward

Well we are still in the hospital, but Ry is making improvements. He had a bad day yesterday and he wasn't able to eat anything all day. My brother in law and Ryan's dad came and gave him a blessing last night. About forty five minutes later he started throwing up. He threw up so violently that his feeding tube started to come out his mouth. I know that's kind of gross. Anyway after they finished pulling the feeding tube he immediately started feeling better. He was able to eat some frosted flakes for breakfast, and he just ate some chicken noodle soup so we are crossing our fingers that he will be able to hold it down. We aren't out of the woods so keep us in your prayers.

Ryan Update

Well I think your prayers are working. Ryan has been improving extremely fast. He was able to eat some cream of wheat for breakfast, and some oatmeal for lunch. This is a huge improvement. Me and Ryan's mom Vickie have been doing a lot of research on West Nile. Everyone we have talked to who has had the virus, and everything we have read has said that it takes a long time to recover. Both of the gentlemen that we have spoken to said it took them at least a month to stop throwing up. I am sure that we have a long journey to make, but Ry has been improving extremely fast. He is so strong and has so much support. My niece Shylee has been praying several times a day. She keeps asking her mom if Ryan can hear her pray. Just another reminder to make sure you wear mosquito repellent and stay in away for the mosquitoes when possible. We couldn't do this without all of you behind us. Thank you with all my heart. I'll give you another update soon.

Good News

Ryan had an MRI last night to make sure there was no swelling on his brain. The results were completely normal. This is very very good news. They placed a feeding tube yesterday and he is tolerating his feedings very well. He is going to try and eat on his own today, so cross your fingers for us. We are very thankful for all the support and I will continue to keep you posted.

Please Pray for Us

Hey everyone. I have some bad news. Ryan was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with viral meningitis. He has been doing well and getting a little bit better day by day. This morning the doctor came in and told us that the meningitis was caused by the West Nile virus. He is going to stay in the hospital until he regains  his strength and begins eating again. I know with all my soul that Ryan will make it through this. It's going to be a long road. Please keep us in your prayers and I will try and keep you posted.  Oh and one more thing. Try and keep in out of the mosquitoes and if you are out when they are make sure to wear repellent.

School's Out Forever!!!

My man, Ryan finished school on Tuesday! I am so proud of him, he is now considered a multi-skill maintenance mechanic. He had to take plumbing, computer, electrical, electrical motor, and PLC classes ( and others that I can't remember). I am so proud of him. He worked so hard and finished some of his classes in record time. He is employed at HAFB and now that he is done with school he can advance in his career :) I took him out to dinner last night to celebrate. Here's to bigger and better things baby.

August all summed up

The last half of August flew by. I went to a baby shower for my friend Tiff. She's the one in the middle :) She is due in October and she's expecting a pink bundle of joy. I've been friends with Tiff since junior high or before. We don't see each other much, but is is a lot of fun getting together.

That same day we celebrated Shylee and Annie Jo's birthday. Shy is 3 and Annie Jo is 1. Lacy is due with baby girl number 3 in December. They are so excited. This a a picture of Shylee in pink and Ryan's niece SkyLee in purple. They are the same age and best buds. Shylee wants to name the new baby Skylee. My dad turned 49 on the 27th of August. We went out to Chili's. The whole family was there. My dad is such an awesome guy. He has taught me so much. I'm lucky to have a dad that supports me in everything I do. Here is a pic of Shy and Uncle Nick.
Lacy, Mandy, and Annie Jo
My mom and dad are the cutest couple. They have been married for almost 28 years. They set a wonderful example of what a marriage should really be like.

Here are my silly brothers Austin and Dakota and cousin Trevor

This is My Uncle Rick, Uncle Kevin and my GORGEOUS cousin Bessie.

Karlie and Me

Labor Day weekend was TOMATO DAYS in Hooper. We had a lot of fun. Annie was in the baby show and Shylee was in the Miss Pink Tomato pageant. She was a little on the shy side, but she got a ribbon and she couldn't have been happier. This is her and the Tomato Days Rodeo Queen.

I was in my first rodeo since sixth grade on Labor Day. I had so much fun. I team roped with Ryan. I missed :( but I still had a blast. I love my life!!!!! This is us before we rode.

Two Fabulous Years!

Yesterday Ryan took me on a date to celebrate being together for two years! We went to Prairie Schooner and then to the movies. I drug Ryan to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: 2. He didn't even complain. We had a a lot of fun. I'm so thankful to have him in my life. I can't imagine what I would do without him. Since we started dating my life has really taken off and I am totally content. He is always making me laugh and he supports me in everything. We knew each other all through junior high and high school. I had a huge crush on him! Then two years ago we ran into each other at the Weber County Fair. We kissed that night, and just for the record he kissed me!

Fading Summer!

It has been a really fun last couple of weeks. My family took a trip to Lava Hot Springs. We had quite a good time. Lacy wasn't able to come because Dave crashed on his dirt bike. He ended up with three broken ribs and a punctured lung. He is healing up ok. Cassie also wasn't able to come because she had stitches on her forehead and wussed out. We had a lot of fun without them, but would have enjoyed their company.
We went to the pool and they had a pretty neat climbing wall that we all enjoyed. Then we floated down the river three times and let me tell you that was one too many. The first to runs down the river were really fun and mostly uneventful. The third run down the river was a different story. I cut my leg open getting into the water. Dakota scraped his back against some rocks and had a nice battle wound. And last but not least, my dad got stuck in a counter current and some how his tube flipped. He ended up slamming his head against a rock and was bleeding in three different places. OUCH!
When we got home we joined Ryan's family at the Pioneer Days Rodeo. It is a tradition for his family to go on family night ever year. We had a really good time. Ryan's nephew participated in the MUTTON BUSTIN', and although he didn't make it all eight second when he was finished he stood up and waved to the crowd. It was adorable.
On the 24th we went to Stone Idaho where Ryan team roped. When they signed up they were told that they would be in the slack, and that the slack would be after the rodeo. When we got there at about six o'clock they had already run the slack. The boys were pretty bumbed out, but fortunately since it was the secretaries fault they let them rope in the performance. They had a good run, but weren't fast enough to win any money.

I can't believe it is already August. After the Weber County Fair summer is pretty much over. The days are beginning to get shorter and the summer is fading away. So here's to the rest of the summer.

Rodeo, Rodeo, and more Rodeo!

So we have been really busy the last couple of weekends. Last weekend was West Haven Days. Ryan did very well. He headed and heeled and caught both time. His rope partner is Clint Kap who is a year younger than us. They do really well together. Their time at West Haven was 8.56 seconds. Which is decent but wasn't fast enough to be in the money. On the fourth we went to Plymouth, which is just north of Tremonton. It is just a little tiny town, but they have one heck of a rodeo. They have all the funny events, like wild cow milking, the hide race, and the chicken chase. It makes for a fun watch. Ryan just entered this rodeo once and unfortunately his header missed. There were so many people they didn't rope until about one thirty in the morning. So naturally we didn't get home until about three thirty or so and the next day we headed to Evanston Wyoming at about two thirty in the afternoon. Ryan and Clint roped at about twenty after five. They were really fast. Their time was 5.65 seconds and they would have one it, except Ryan lost a leg when he went to the horn (they add five seconds to your time if you only rope one leg). We had so much fun and can I just say that my man is FINE!

Summer is finally here!!

Well the summer weather is finally here, and it feels good! But along with the weather comes the crazy schedule. It is getting really busy, but in a good way!I got the privilege of watching SkyLee so I took her over to Lacy's so that her and Shylee could play. They had a blast and there were a lot of tears when it was time to go home!

Shylee Nicole
SkyLee Marie
Ryan and I finally got away for the weekend. We went up to Strawberry Reservoir and visited with my grandparents. It was really nice to have a weekend to ourselves. Hopefully there will be more to come.
I wanted to go down to the doc and put my feet in the water, so after a little coaxing I got Ry to come with me. But when we got to the marina the wind was blowing so hard that it was too cold. But it was nice to go see the water anyway.
So we decide that we would cook hobo dinners, because they are good and easy (or so we thought). The first night we put them in the fire and then went over and visited with the grandparents. When we came back to our camp we were starving, so we opened up our dinners all excited to eat, and they were burnt. And when I say burnt I mean BURNT. Thank goodness we had plenty of snacks to hold us over until morning. The next night we decided we would try it again, but this time we stayed close the fire and made sure to turn them often. This time we succeeded. They were delicious. So as you can see life is good and busy. We have been ropin' a lot and Ry has a rodeo in Evanston tonight. I'll let ya know how he does.

Ropin'

Well it is ropin' season again. My man lives for roping and he looks good doing it. Lately it is all we have been doing. Ryan has been roping since he was in seventh grade, I on the other hand have been roping for about a year and I think I am finally catching on. Last summer we built a roping arena in Ry's back yard, and when I say we I really mean we. I dug holes and carried railroad ties and all that good stuff. We used the arena a lot last summer and it was really worth it. This year we haven't used it much because we don't have many steers. We have been going to a couple of Ryan's buddies houses. Hopefully I will be good enough to start entering rodeos by the middle of the summer. Cross your fingers for me and pray I won't lose any of mine! This is Ryan and Boozer at the Tomato Day's Rodeo last summer.
This is Ryan and Boozer again in Ry's back yard.
This is the arena we built.
